Spirituality

Spirituality enables children to be happy, flourish, and succeed.

At Greentrees, we define spirituality as the development of a pupil’s ability to bond with their emotions, beliefs and sense of belonging. It involves reflecting on their beliefs and values, and respecting the beliefs and values of others.

At Greentrees, we develop pupils’ spirituality in a variety of ways, including:

  • Being able to reflect on their own beliefs and perspective on life
  • Respecting the beliefs, feelings, and values of others
  • Enjoying learning about themselves, others, and the world around them
  • Using imagination and creativity in learning
  • Being willing to reflect on their experiences and moments bigger than themselves

We support the spiritual development of pupils in many ways, including:

  • Establishing partnerships between pupils, parents, and staff
  • Recognizing and respecting the faith backgrounds of pupils and their families
  • Providing collective acts of worship
  • Being good role models
  • Promoting respect for others and their views
  • Nurturing consideration and generosity towards others
  • Drawing on the experiences of pupils and their families

Our pupils develop their spirituality using the ‘Windows, Mirrors and Doors’ approach:

Windows – pausing to notice things around us.

Mirrors – Taking time to reflect on how things make us feel.

Doors – Seeking opportunities to take action.
