Treefrogs
Miss Eyers (Mrs Eyers-Gibbs) (Class Teacher)
Mrs Cruttenden works in Treefrogs for half a day on a Monday and a Tuesday.
Teaching Assistants work as a team across EYFS so the following adults also support pupils in Treefrogs: Mrs Farr and Mrs Tomlinson.
Our Gallery
Welcome to all the new children and parents! It has been lovely to meet everyone for our half an hour visit to find out more about you and show you around the classroom. This week we will be in school part time and begin to learn the new school routines.
Our enquiry question for this term is ‘What do people do at Greentrees?’. Over the next few weeks we will be meeting lots of people that can help us around the school.
This term we will begin our system of voting each day for a story from our reading spine books in the reading area, where we learn a new piece of vocabulary from Vocabulary Victor to put into sentences.
Phonics Joe and Phonics Fairy:

In Phonics this week, as authors, we will be working on our speaking and listening skills through circle time sessions to get to know our new friends.
Vocabulary Victor’s words:

As authors, we develop our vocabulary by using Vocabulary Victor’s words. Some of these words are chosen from books in the book corner and others are specific to different areas of learning.
We will add to the list as the weeks progress:
Author’s area:
Mathematician’s area:
Artist’s area:
Engineer’s area:
Geographers area:
Scientist’s area:
Historian’s area:
Questioning Parrot:

Questioning Parrot sets up challenges around the room that we can try out during Explorer Time each day.
Maths Wizard:

In Maths this week, as mathematicians, we were learning how to use the mathematical resources in the maths area.
Also this week…

We choose one child to sit on the Star Chair each day.
Reading
This term, our class will be sharing rhyming books.

Our weekly visits to the school library take place on Wednesday.
Story Suitcases:

After half term, each Friday, a pupil is chosen to take home a Story Suitcase. Inside the case, there is a story book, a book review notepad and a story prop. We ask that an adult read the story aloud to promote the love of reading. Children may enjoy using the prop to engage with the story while listening to it, or to re-enact it afterwards. We ask that the story suitcase is returned to school on Monday morning.
Book Changes:
Children will have books changed once a week on the following day:
Monday – Oaks
Tuesday – Sycamores
Wednesday – Limes
Thursday – Chestnuts
In Reception, we get to know the following books really well. We have a daily story vote to choose the book that is read to us!
