About Us

We are a specialist resource provision for children with autism and related social communication and interaction needs.

Greentrees Primary School is a split-site primary school, and our Resource Base is located on the junior site. Our provision offers 12 places, organised into two classes – one for each key stage.

We aim for children to access integration into mainstream classes whenever appropriate. As far as possible, pupils follow our whole-school, enquiry-led curriculum, which supports effective integration and ensures they have the same opportunities as their peers across the school.

The Support Your Child Will Receive

Children in our Resource Base benefit from:

• Quality-first teaching in their class, with opportunities to integrate into mainstream classes.

• A highly skilled and supportive team working closely with you as parents and carers.

• Specialist interventions tailored to meet social communication, interaction, sensory, physical, emotional, and mental health needs, guided by their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

• Enrichment activities such as swimming and equine therapy to develop confidence and social skills.

• Experienced teachers and teaching assistants who are skilled at supporting pupils both in the Resource Base and in mainstream classes.

• Flexible and personalised support, designed to meet each child’s unique needs.

Admissions Criteria

Children admitted to our Resource Base must:

• Be aged 4–11 years with a primary diagnosis of autism (or be on the diagnostic pathway).

• Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) identifying Social Communication and Interaction Difficulties as their primary need.

• May have additional special educational needs, though not as complex or severe as those identified by the Local Authority for specialist severe learning provision.

• Need access to a mainstream curriculum with appropriate support, and be assessed against national curriculum guidelines.

• Have behaviour that is manageable in a mainstream setting with the right support.

Placement decisions are made by Wiltshire Council’s Statutory SEND Service Team through the SEN Panel. All pupils attending the Resource Base will have an EHCP naming the provision. Please note that children already attending Greentrees’ mainstream provision do not have priority over applicants from other schools.
