School Council
At Greentrees, we believe that the views of pupils are important. One way that we ensure effective ‘Pupil Voice’ is through electing a School Council. Each September, children vote for and elect a representative from each class in Year 1 – 6. This is one of the ways in which we support pupils to learn about the British Value of democracy.
The School Council is led by Mrs McKay at the Infant Site and by Mrs Hawkins at the Junior Site. We ensure regular opportunities for the council to work collaboratively as a whole.
Current priorities for the School Council include:
- Deciding on Golden Time choices (Democracy)
- Improving rules for play and lunch times (Rule of Law)
- Looking at aspects of school life we want to improve or support (Respect and Tolerance)
- Improving access to healthy snacks for all pupils, especially those at the Juniors
The school threads the design for the personal development of pupils expertly throughout the curriculum. Pupils flourish as a result.
