SEND-Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Mrs Helen Cole is the SENDCo and Inclusion Manager at Greentrees Primary School. To contact Mrs Cole, please email: helencole@greentrees.wilts.sch.uk.
Many children may be identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN) at some stage in their school life – up to 20% of the school population at any one time.
This page has been designed to help you understand how we support children with SEND in our school, who to speak to if you have concerns about your child, and how we identify needs and monitor progress. It also provides a clear overview of our SEND policy, along with information about other sources of support and guidance.
In September 2014, a new statutory Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) was introduced by the Department for Education (DfE).
SEND at Greentrees
At Greentrees, we value the abilities and achievements of all our pupils and are committed to providing the best possible learning experiences for every child.
We aim to provide well-resourced, appropriate, and effective provision that is personalised to meet individual needs.
We recognise that many children may experience additional needs at some point during their school life. Through the implementation of our SEND policy, we aim to provide the right support to help them overcome these challenges.
Whilst many factors contribute to the challenges faced by some children, we believe much can be achieved when parents, teachers, and pupils work together.
Greentrees Primary School follows the guidance for identifying and assessing special educational needs set out in the SEND Code of Practice. Alongside the support we provide within school, we can also involve external professionals when needed.
Concerns About Your Child
If you are concerned about your child’s progress, please speak first to their class teacher. The best way to make contact is via email or through the school office. You can also contact Mrs Helen Cole for further support.
The school is highly inclusive, and pupils thrive.
It is really nice that the school gets recognised for all the dedication, support and love it gives our children.
